Day 24 – Tracking 2009
Well, for a guy who said he wasn’t comfortable with the idea of goals, I’ve certainly been obsessed with them the past few days, so much that I’ve created a set of mind maps centered around them and the missions they serve.
My first goal? To track my progress toward my goals on a daily basis.
Here’s an image of the mind map I’ve created to serve this purpose.
I’m using the mind mapping application, X-Mind, which allows me to create workbooks containing multiple worksheets (mind maps). This particular workbook is called Missions and Goals, and contains the following three worksheets: Missions and Purposes, Mission Goals, and Current Focus. Current Focus contains only the goals I’m currently working towards.
The Current Focus worksheet allows me to (big surprise) focus. I don’t have to look at the entire journey. I only have to keep my eye on the road I’m currently traveling.
Mission Goals will allow me to look back at what I’ve accomplished and think ahead to what challenges I’ll need to face in the future.
Missions and Purposes outlines the missions I’m taking on and my reasons for doing so.
I’ve kept it relatively simple and now I have a nice little way to wrap my mind around where I’m headed.
I’ll post more in the future about what I’m learning from all of this.
